10/12/2018 10:41:12 PM
Early Times Report

Kathua, Oct 12: District Development Commissioner Kathua Rohit Khajuria who was the Chief Guest in a function organized under the banner of Awareness on Road safety & Online services with theme 'Messenger of Road Safety' today accepted that indolent attitude of few officials in district administration promotes wrong parking and encroachment on bridges, footpath and market of the town. Pertinently, it is mentioned that District administration while redressing long pending demand of public provided a place in the heart of city for parking, without any strict rule and parking charges. Unfortunately, commuters park their vehicles at Gurdawara Chowk, market, along the busy roads, Zarai Morh Bridge but do not utilize the free parking on prescribed place. DDC Kathua expressed with concern that people do not take lesson from periodic road mishaps, 40 feet wide road has been epitomized to just 12 feet. He accepted that it's all due to soft attitude of few officials working in district administration. The traffic rules should be followed than forcibly implemented, he suggested. Meanwhile, it is seemed that District administration have complete knowledge about wrong parking on Zarai Morh bridge that occupied by wrong parking. It becomes difficult for people to walk or drive on 50 mtr long bridge. The bridge is covered by heavy vehicles for shifting goods to small load carriers and businessmen to unload goods from truck. Despite of having particular parking place, Businessmen unabated upload their vehicles but no action has been initiated by administration resulting periodical mishaps. Sunny, a shopkeeper informed that some commuters park vehicles in front of their shops that affect their business but unfortunately despite of having knowledge, administration does not take any action against wrong parking, the reason better known to officials. Shopkeepers demand strict action against commuters and appealed administration to minimize wrong parking on Zarai bridge.
