| AIR music concert enthralls Jammuities | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 15 Celebrating the colourful mood of the spring season, All India Radio organized a musical bonanza in which national level folk and light music artists of AIR performed in Abhinav Theatre today. The concert started with the traditional lighting of the lamp. Welcoming the guests and artists, Station Director, Radio Kashmir Jammu, K.C. Dubey, said that it is an honour that Radio Kashmir Jammu has been selected for the second time in a row to organize this prestigious “National Spring Festival of Folk & Light Music”. He emphasized that such concerts gives the audience a chance to understand and appreciate the folk music of other regions. Anita Sharma, local artist of national repute, who was the first one to perform, began with the popular Dogri Folk song – Bhala Miyan Managera. Her light music rendition of “Bhali Mitthi-mitthi Baunsri, “Khiri jobane di” and another folk song “Kajla sobi-sobi janda” left the audience spell bound. Banarsi Lal Jhori of Jodhpur, known for his “maand” style of singing, was the next to perform. His song “Kesriya Balam”, which has inspired many Bollywood hits, was particularly enjoyed by the audience. Ravinder Sathe, who has lent his voice to many episodes of Radio Serial “Ram Charit Manas Gaan” besides many Gujarati and Marathi film songs and Bhajans, took the evening to another musical height. |
