Sainik School wins Sahodaya Athletic Championship-2018

Jammu, Oct 12: Sainik School Nagrota lifted the much coveted Championship Trophy (Boys) in the Jammu Sahodaya Athletic Meet hosted by the school from 10 Oct to 12 Oct 2018. 18 schools affiliated to CBSE from Jammu region participated in the Athletic Meet. Brig Rajan Jamwal (Retd), an alumnus of this premier institution, presided over the Closing Day function as the Chief Guest and gave away medals and trophies to the winners. Athletes in both boys and girls categories sweated it out in the track and field events to improve their schools' overall points tally. Sainik School Nagrota topped the medal tally at the end of the final day's events in boys' category with 131 points and APS Kaluchak stood second with 33 points. By winning gold in 100m, 200m and bronze in Javelin Throw, Cadet Chetanya Bhat of Sainik School Nagrota was adjudged as the Best Athlete in boys' category.
In the girls' category Bhargava Public School, Samba lifted the Championship Trophy with 74 points while Presentation Convent Jammu stood runner-up with 34 points. Miss Pranya Slathia of Heritage School Jammu won the Best Athlete trophy in Girls category. Addressing the contingents, the Chief Guest Brig Rajan Jamwal applauded the competitive spirit displayed by the athletes in the sports field under the umbrella of Sahodaya Schools. He was also profoundly impressed by the excellent display of the School Band.
