| Council’s `deliberate’ delay in starting swimming pool | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 15 With mercury already touching 30 Degree Celsius in the Winter Capital and no movement at the MA Stadium pool, it seems that the start of swimming pool for the season is set to be delayed again by the J&K State Sports Council. It has become a culture in the Sports Council to start things late thus causing loss to the exchequer and earning bad name to those at the helm of affairs. Interestingly, with an aim to start activity at the swimming pool positively by first week of April, the manager concerned has already submitted his requisition with the Sports Officer (Jammu) in the mid of February for approval. Unfortunately, no action has been initiated by the authorities concerned till today. “Since the final approval has to be given by the central office, I have forwarded the requisition letter last month itself,” Sports Officer (Jammu), Krishan Sharma told Sports & Allied News. Positive about the start of the swimming pool within a month’s time, by the mid of April, Sharma said, “I have already told the manager indoor, who holds the additional charge of the swimming pool, to personally see that the approval is granted at the earliest. Hopefully, we will be meeting the concerned officials on Monday (March 17) to get the things done.” The way files move at the Sports Council, it seems that delaying things has become a culture in the Sports Council, especially with regard to start of the swimming pool. Going by the previous records, it takes the Sports Council more than a month to make the swimming pool fully functional. |
