| Bee-keeping training centre set up at Maralia | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 15 With a view to propagate modern Bee-keeping in the fertile areas where flora is found in abundance, the J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board set up a Bee-keeping training centre for three months at Maralia in border tehsil of R S Pura. As many as 40 persons, maximum females have been registered for imparting the training with each trainee getting a monthly stipend of Rs 300. The training centre was declared open jointly by Member National Khadi and Village Industries Board, Ghulam Nabi Naik and Secetary, KVIB, R C Sharma. Speaking on the occasion, the Secretary said that the Board is organizing such training camps every year, where interested persons are acquainted with its different aspects. “The objective behind such trainings is to pursue the trainees to under take bee-keeping as means of their livelihood thereby generating employment avenues,” said Sharma. He disclosed that the KVIB is setting up two Common Facility centres (CFC), one each at Jammu and Srinagar. In his address, Ghulam Nabi Malik expressed his satisfaction that most of the trainees in the centre are women who have shown keen interest in learning this trade. He said, “Beekeeping is a cottage industry which can be started with a lowest investment and can be carried out as a part time with other domestic assignments generally the women are having in their house.” Others who spoke include ex-Director Agriculture, D P Khajuria, Manzoor, Deputy CEO KVIB Jammu Division and Deputy CEO Kashmir Division and Development officers. |
