| US ‘Police officer’ dupes several on providing visas | | ‘Police still clueless’ | | Sumit Sharma

A person claiming himself as a US Police investigating official has reportedly duped several people on pretext of providing them visas for settling in USA and went underground after collecting huge sums.
Govind Singh s/o Amar Singh r/o Greater Kailash is one of the victims who fell into the trap of the ‘US Police officer’.
Narrating his tale of woe, Singh told Early Times on phone that a US national, introducing himself as US police officer, used to come to his shop for decorating his Innova vehicle bearing registration number DL4CAE/0001 and became his tenant. “The US officer opened his office in Diagana and asked me if I wanted to go to America for which I gave my consent.” Through Singh some more people came in contact with him. The officer took their passports with him and demanded lakhs of rupees for each customer for preparation of visas which was given to him. After amassing huge wealth, the visiting American went underground taking Singh’s car bearing registration number JK02B/1111.Upon this Govind lodged a complaint in Crime Branch, but of no avail.
When Early Times contacted Bhupinder Singh, SP Crime Branch, he said that the case has been handed over to SP South and a FIR in this regard has been registered in Digaina Police station and investigation taken up. |
