| Lt Col, top ultra killed | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Mar 17 A Lieutenant Colonel, an army jawan and a top militant were killed and three wounded in a fierce gunbattle between security forces and ultras in Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district. The gunfight erupted when security forces carried out searches in Dangiwacha area to flush out militants, official sources said. Lt. Col. B. Kadam and jawan Pradeeep Kumar were killed and three army personnel were wounded in the exchange of fire, a Defence spokesman said. A self-styled Lashker-e-Toiba Chief Operation Commander identified as Hafiz Nasir was also killed in the gunbattle lasting several hours, he said.Nasir was a Pakistani national, the spokesman said.Elsewhere in Kashmir valley, militants hurled a hand grenade at the house of a Municipal Councillor in Bandipora town late last night. However, no loss of life or damage to property was reported.A grenade was recovered from an orchard in Bandipora district which was immediately defused. |
