300 kgs of poppy straw recovered

RAMBAN, Oct 15: Police today recovered 300 kilograms of poppy straw from an oil tanker here today at Cafeteria Morh on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NHW).
A police party led by SHO Ramban Inspector Vijay Kotwal under supervision of DySP HQ Ramban Asgar Malik and under close supervision of Additional SP Sanjay Parihar laid a surprise naka near Cafeteria Morh Ramban on NHW. During checking one vehicle (Oil Tanker) bearing registration number JK02U 5181 which was on its way from Kashmir has been signaled to stop for checking. On seeing naka party the driver of the vehicle stopped the oil tanker at a distance away from naka party and fled away from spot in suspicious condition. During thorough search of the oil tanker, the cops recovered 300 kg of poppy straw (bhukki) packed in gunny bags from one of the empty compartment of oil tanker. The oil tanker has been seized. In this regard case FIR NO 167/18 U/S 8/15 of NDPS Act got registered against the accused persons at police station Ramban.
