GDC Thannamandi World Students Day

Poonch, Oct 15: Government Degree College Thannamandi celebrated World Students Day. Principal of the College Prof. (Dr.) Shakeel Ahmed Raina presided over the function, while Prof. Iqbal Parvez, Dean Academics, BGSBU was Chief Guest on the occasion. Dr. Asgar Mehmood, Assistant Professor, DU was Guest of Honour, while Dr. Danish Iqbal was Special Guest. On the occasion, an Inter-College Debate Competition was organized, in which students from seven colleges participated, namely GDC Nowshera, GDC Budhal, PG College Rajouri, GDC Surankote, GDC Mendhar, and GDC Poonch, along with students from GDC Thannamandi. In the competition, Khaliq-Ur Rehman from GDC Surankote, Sajid Iqbal from GDC Budhal and Sayeed Ahmed from GDC Surankote bagged first, second and third positions respectively.
In the programme, awards were presented to students of GDC Thannamandi for their best performance in various curricular and co-curricular activities in the college during the session 2017-18.
Among those who were awarded were Mehmood Ahmed as Best Reciter of Holy Quran, Tahira Anjum for being Topper in Arts Stream, Sayiqa Rashid for being topper in Science Stream, Flower Afsana Chand as Best CR (Girls), Asgar Iqbal as Best CR (Boys), Mohd Saleem as best Singer, Mohd. Asif as best Sportsperson, Asger Majeed as Best NSS Volunteer, Anwaral Taffail as best NCC Cadet, and Danish Bashir as Best Orator/Debater.
