| ‘BSP puts on sale allotment of Assembly tickets’ | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 17 Leaders of rival faction of the BSP,led by De Sat Pal, allege that the BSP unit in Jammu, headed by Yash Pal Bhagat, has started collecting funds for the party by having put on sale party mandate for the next Assembly election. These leaders said that the already “sinking boat of Mayawati’s party in Jammu and Kashmir has started selling party mandate for Rs. five to Rs.seven Lakhs.” In support of their contention they refer to the recent decision of the BSP to field party candidates in all the 87 constituencies in the state when the party does not have any base in the Kashmir valley and in Ladakh region. In 2002 Assembly poll the BSP had won one seat and the winner, Manjit Singh, later defected to the PDP. The leaders of the rival faction say that cracks have surfaced in the BSP unit again after its two general secretaries, Sushil Gupta and Raj Kumar, were expelled from the party. A former MLA,Sagar Chand, has already joined the rival faction headed by Dr Sat Pal. They said that the rate for ticket allotment will further increase with the announcement of the poll schedule and by the end of the exercise the BSP unit will be able to earn several crores of rupees. |
