| Govt contemplates to introduce more job-oriented courses in colleges: Charak | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 17 Minister for Higher Education Mr.Gulchain Singh Charak has said that government is contemplating to introduce more job-oriented courses besides using modern technology like e-netowrking, online education and virtual classrooms in colleges of the state so that quality human resources were produced. Addressing at the annual day cum prize distribution function at General Zorawar Singh Memorial College Degree College Reasi this morning, Minister said that government with its sincere endeavours has already started market friendly and job-oriented courses in the colleges including Fisheries, Journalism, BBA, Tourism, Bio-Chemistry, Bio-technology, Information Technology, Computer Science, Video Editing and Sericulture courses. He said that such courses would be introduced in all colleges of the state in phased manner after by providing infrastructure. Among others, Deputy Commissioner Reasi Mr. Sanjeev Verma, Executive Project Director Railways Mr.Vinod Kumar, Principal GDC Reasi Dr.S. L. Gupta, SSP Reasi Mr. J.L. Sharma, Chairman Municipal Committee Reasi Mr. Yashpal Verma, President General Zorawar Singh Memorial Committee Mr. Baldev Singh, senior citizens, parents and students were present on the occasion. Mr. Charak said that "if we have to compete with emerging global world, the right initiatives and introduction of more market friendly courses in the colleges and to provide state of art infrastructure, quality teaching and national level laboratory and library facility to the students were the main ingredients to achieve desire target". He said that expansion of higher education in the state is almost complete by setting up of 40 new colleges and new University Campuses in the far-flung areas of the state. He said that now government is concentrating as consolidations. The Minister stressed upon the teachers to ensure adequate participation of the students in "Display your Talent" programmes so that their inherent talent can be chanlized in a better way. The Minister also distributed prizes among the outstanding students of the college who have excelled academically as well as in co-curricular activities. Principal of host college Mr. S.L. Gupta in his welcome address highlighted the achievements of the college in its annual report 2007-08. The students of the college presented colourful cultural bonanza, which was highly appreciated by the audience. |
