Utilize loan for gainful ventures: Vakil to entrepreneurs

Minister for Social Welfare Mr. Abdul Gani Vakil handed over sanction letters for loans worth Rs 3.76 crore to 180 beneficiaries belonging to weaker sections of the society at a function organized by J&K SC/ST and OBC corporation here today.
Managing Director J&K SC/ST and OBC Corporation Mr. V. C. Sharma, Divisional and district managers besides beneficiaries from all over Jammu division were present on the occasion.
Speaking at the function, the Minister urged the beneficiaries to utilize the loan amount exclusively on income generating units to better their living standard. He said the schemes designed for upliftment of socio-economic conditions of the weak serve the real purpose only if the entrepreneurs sincerely spend the loan amount for gainful ventures.
Mr. Vakil hoped that the loans sanctioned today by the Corporation would certainly pave way for economic independence of the beneficiaries and rid them from poverty provided they don't waste it in meeting domestic expenditures. "Any misuse and mismanagement of loans will aggravate your economic condition", he cautioned.
"Trade, business and entrepreneurship are fast picking up in the state" Vakil said and called upon beneficiaries to multiply their fortunes by developing enterprising qualities and skills to be equal partners of this vibrant sector.
The Minister reiterated resolve of government to decentralize loan sanction and disbursement process, stating modalities for the purpose were being worked out. He said corporation should reach out to target groups rather than vice-versa.
The Managing Director informed that the Corporation has sanctioned loan cases worth Rs 10 crore to 767 beneficiaries in the state during the current fiscal. He said 254 'manual scavengers' have been identified for imparting ITI training in market-oriented trades. He said Rs 3.07 crore would be made available to them for setting up income generating units.
The functionaries of the Corporation also delivered lecturers on the occasion to aware the audience about the schemes.
