Jansangh, BJP policies made India N-power: Vajpayee
8/27/2006 11:23:38 PM
New Delhi | AUGUST 27

Former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee today attributed the country's rise as a nuclear power to the policies of the Jansangh and the BJP.
"It is we that have made India a nuclear capable nation and got the position which we deserve in the world," Vajpayee said at a function here to release two special issues of Rastradharma, the monthly magazine of the RSS.
Elaborating on the contributions of the Jansangh, Vajpayee, the first editor of Rastradharma, said, "If today Kashmir is an inseparable part of India, it is because of us. Also our contribution to nation building can't be demeaned as it is due to our efforts that the society is today free from the 'licence and quota raj'." He said the BJP is carrying forward the Jansangh's aims and objectives of making India a propserous and developed state. "We have learned from our failures and the BJP has successfully carried the objectives of the Jansangh and will continue its effort to make India a capable nation," he said. Senior BJP leader L K Advani, who has backed the demand to re-introduce POTA to fight terrorism, said, "This government has failed to tackle the two important issues of terrorism and corruption, which are of great concern." Be it terrorism or Naxalism or the law and order situation, the government has failed to handle it and the common man is badly hit by corruption, which begins from the top, he said. Advani highlighted the achievements of the Jansangh and the BJP and said that these two parties had made Indian politics bi-polar as the country was earlier run by a single party. The Jansangh had always worked for national integration, he added.
