| Court awards 7 years RI to accused for slaughtering calf | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 17 Presiding Officer TADA/POTA/ 3rd Additional Sessions Judge, Jammu, Mr. Sanjay Gupta awarded 7 years RI to accused Surinder Kumar r/ Radi Tehsil Samba, who was facing trial in a case. The accused along with others, with the common attention, committed theft on February 20, 2004 of a four month aged calf and killed him and kept his skin for sale. Police registered a case u/s 379/298-A RPC and after completion of the investigation presented challan in the Court of law. 3rd Additional Sessions, after hearing APP Mr. Gulzar Singh Charak on the question of sentence and carefully going through all the aspects of the case observed that it is a fact that accused has confessed his guilt voluntarily and placed himself at the mercy of the Court. With these observations, Court awarded sentence to the accused u/s 379 RPC to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment and fine of Rs 1000. The accused will also undergo rigorous imprisonment u/s 298-A RPC for four years and fine of Rs 2000. However, both the sentences shall run concurrently, the Court ordered. JNF |
