| Cricket tourney in memory of Prof Malhotra | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 17 To pay tributes to Prof Pran Malhotra, the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association (JKCA) has planned to organize an inter-provincial tournament from first week of April at two venues of the Winter Capital, here. This was decided in a meeting of the office bearers of the Association after getting green signal from president and the secretary of JKCA. “In all, eight teams from both the provinces of the State shall complete in this tournament on round robin league basis,” joint secretary of Jammu wing of JKCA Sunit Sharma told Sports & Allied News. A similar competition shall be organized by the Association at Srinagar in the month of July. “Both the events will be monitored by the selectors from Jammu and Srinagar for short listing 30 cricketers. These selected players shall be competing in the local tournaments organized by different associations in North India,” informed Sharma. Meanwhile, an Association handout issued here today said that the JKCA president, Farooq Abdullah has impressed upon the wing officials to organize events at the rural venues also so as to identify the fresh talent. |
