| Tarigami lends credence to Mir’s words, says realignment imminent | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 17 Giving wings to the imagination of expelled PDP leader Ghulam Hassan Mir and also some serious hints to the leaders of two leading coalition partners, the Communist Party of India (M) leader Mohammad Yusuf Tarigami today said that realignment of political forces in Jammu and Kashmir is inevitable. Tarigami’s obvious hint was towards formation of the “Third Front” an option for which is being already explored by Ghulam Hassan Mir. Though Mir has all along been saying that he enjoys support of Tarigami and Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen, but today was the first time when Tarigami openly declared that realignment of political forces was imminent in the present political scenario. Addressing a press conference here today, Tarigami criticized the Azad government over lack of coordination among coalition partners. "Despite coordination committee set up since the coalition government came into power, it has never met during the last couple of years," CPI(M) state secretary M Y Tarigami said. How can the government claim to be implementing the Common Minimum Programme when major partners of the coalition are pursuing their separate party agenda, Tarigami said. When asked about what he meant by realignment of political forces, Tarigami said, "I did not say that CPI(M) will leave the coalition like Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party (JKNPP), but the present government is not working in coordination with the partners." With situation fast changing in Pakistan, a realisation was dawning among separatists and even those holding gun to come forward and join the process of dialogue to resolve Kashmir problem, the CPI(M) leader said. Tarigami asked the Centre to facilitate the process of dialogue with separatist elements so that they also contribute in reducing the miseries of the people. Advocating setting up of regional councils in three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, he asked the Centre to facilitate more people-to-people contact between residents of Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan occupied Kashmir (PoK). Earlier the State Committee of the CPI(M) passed four resolutions in its delegate session held here. One of the resolutions demanded waiver of loan to horticulture growers, extension of crop insurance scheme to cover all agricultral crops and provision of loan facilities to agriculture growers at four percent simple interest. Another resolution demanded filling up of posts lying vacant in various government departments without further delay, release of long pending wages to daily wagers, regularisation of those working on adhoc and contractual basis. Yet another resolution demanded withdrawal of all draconian laws and implementation of all labour laws. |
