| PDP wing discusses youth programme | | | Early Times Reporter

A meeting of the youth wing of Peoples' Democratic Party was held today under the chairmanship of youth president Basharat Bukhari. Vice president of the party, Ved Mahajan, MLC presided over the meeting in which issues relating to the youth were thoroughly discussed.
MLA Shanti Devi, state secretary and media in charge Renu Azad, district president Jammu rural Baldev Singh Slathia, Ramesh Koul and other senior leaders addressed the meeting which was attended by all districts and zone president of the youth wing.
Speaking on the occasion, youth wing president and MLC Basharat Bukhari threw light on the Youth Development Programme formulated by the party. He said that formulation of Youth Development Programme was a revolutionary step towards solving problems being faced by the younger generation of the society. He said that points incorporated in this historical document reflect visionary approach of the PDP leadership.
Mr Bukhari said that PDP is the first political party in the State which has formulated a specific programme for the development and uplfitment of youth.
In the meeting PDP youth wing president stressed on the need of starting more and more vocational training programmes to provide jobs opportunities to the youth. He further called upon government to initiate only job oriented vocational courses.
He further emphasized that government should encourage modernization of traditional sectors like agriculture, horticulture, sericulture etc. He narrated examples of Europeon and other developed countries where modern techniques have been adopted for diversification of agriculture sector. He said that need of the hour is to encourage rural youth to move toward cash crops to enhance their income.
Exhorting youth wing of the party to actively participate in the activities of the party, Mr Bukhari said that younger generation has to play a dominate role in implementing policies and programmes of PDP. It is all due to the policies and programmes of PDP, he said, that peace has been prevailed in this sub-continent. He specially mentioned statement of Union Minister of State for Commerce Jai Ram Ramesh regarding opening of trans LoC trade. He said that it was result of the policies and programmes of the PDp that both India and Pakistan have decided to accelerate the peace process. He, however, said that youth have to play a decisive role in taking this peace process to a logical conclusion.
MLC Ved Mahajan in his address calling upon the youth to take message of PDP at every nook and corner of the State to strengthen the party. He said that policies and programmes of the PDP were aimed at ameliorating lot of all sections of the society.
Secretary Renu Azad lavished all praise on youth wing for strengthening the party. She said that youth wing of the party has been playing vital role in spreading message of PDP since its inception.
