| Speaker announces land for border migrants | | | early times reporter JAMMU | AUGUST 27
Speaker Legislative Assembly Tara Chand today announced that the government will provide residential land to the border migrants and will spent Rs.10 crore to facilitate them with every basic facility under Rehabilitation plan. He was addressing a public meeting at Pallanwala here today. Tara Chand said that the coalition government under the stewardship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad the state has witnessed tremendous progress especially in the far-flung and border areas. He added that there are a number of state as well as centrally sponsored welfare schemes meant for the socio-economic empowerment of unprivileged section of the society, the only need of the hour is to create massive awareness regarding the scheme. The speaker said that the centre government has provided Rs.78 crore for development of border areas of Akhnoor tehsil under which a number of repair and renovation works would be taken up by various development agencies. He said that government has started several macro and micro projects in the state to better the living standards of the people and also to provide employment to the local youth especially those living in backward and border areas. The Speaker also informed the public that a Rs.100 crore project has also been sanctioned under IWDP for Akhnoor tehsil which would beside developing the area would also provide employment to the local youth. Tara Chand sought complete cooperation and participation of people in weeding out corrupt elements from the administration so that their genuine demands and also problems could be solved in a transparent manner. Among others concerned engineers, officers of various departments, Sarpanches and Panches of the area accompanied the Speaker. |
