With the inflation on rise and prices of essential commodities showing no signs of abatement, Mr. Khoda felt that the ration money paid to jawans and officers upto the rank of Inspector, was very meager and needed to be enhanced. Addressing various ranks of police officers and jawans at PHQ here today Mr. Khoda said that as a sequel of new year’s message the matter was taken-up with the government as a result of which the Chief Minister took a decision in his cabinet meeting yesterday to enhance the ration money amount from Rs. 450/- to Rs 600/- per month. This sent a wave of satisfaction and gratitude among the police force who have been seen expressing thanks to the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad and the Director General of Police, for their efforts to have it made possible. In this connection a message was sent by DGP to all ranks of Police which reads as under:- “In my new year message in January this year, I had expressed my concern about the need to increase the ration money amount. The matter was taken up with the government in right earnest and today I am happy to inform you that the government led by the Chief Minister Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad has acceded to our request by increasing the amount of ration money from Rs. 450/- to Rs. 600/- per month. While we are grateful to the government and the Chief Minister for this enhancement in the ration money, we must pledge ourselves to work even harder with dedication round the clock for maintaining peace and harmony and taking the state to its pre-militancy pristine glory. I have no doubt in my mind about the zeal and devotion to duty of my comrades especially the lower subordinates and I have given assurances to the government in this behalf”. This message was read by all heads of police units at specially convened roll calls to their officers and men, where they resolved to work even harder for the peace and order in the state.
