| SP condemns open sale of Sapphire | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 20 Samajwadi Party (SP) leaders in Ram Singh Chouhan and Hari Krishan Tickoo in a press release issued here have strongly condemned the open sale of world famous sapphire worth Rs.30 crores. Leaders who belong to the land of Sapphire-Paddar wondered as to know how and where the 17kgs Saphire was extracted from the Paddar mines because they never heard of any such government monitored extraction work taken up in the area and thus they smell a rat in the whole deal. They further said that 10gms of Paddar Saphire costs about Rs. 90.000 to Rs. 1 lac in the international market and one Kg auctioned for just Rs. 1.30 crore is simply an eye brow an as such this episode needs a detailed probe to be make public aware of truth. The Paddar based Samajwadi leaders said that they never heard of my sapphire extraction work in Paddar either by government or by any authorized contractor by inviting global or local tenders and how and where from 17 Kgs of sapphire was extracted by the government they wondered. For the last 50 years public of Paddar have been alleging illegal theft of the world famous treasure but no action have so for been taken either to start extraction work giving employment to locals beside revenue several thousand crores to government coffers.
