Who will guard fly over in Jammu?

Jammu | Mar 20
The powerful IED blast which ripped off a portion of the fly over at Jehangir chowk in the heart of the Srinagar city on Wednesday evening has failed to alarm security agencies in Jammu as city’s only arterial expressway remains unguarded through out the day.
Occasionally one can spot one or maximum two local policemen from the nearby police station patrolling section of fly over in the late hours but otherwise all the security pickets set up by the para military force at various points on the fly over remain unattended, posing a great risk. The fact that the flyover runs over busiest crossing in the city has been ignored by the security forces before taking the decision to divert security personnel to other locations. Significantly, all senior state government and police officials visiting civil secretariat use fly over but have never noticed absence of security men over the fly over.
Till few months ago, the fly over was guarded round the clock by a team of para military jawans but now they are nowhere to be seen.
During Republic Day celebrations few jawans were posted on security duty to maintain vigil on the main entrance of the MAM stadium from above the road but after that event those jawans were not seen patrolling in the area .Between Tawi bridge- KC crossing all the security pickets over Jewel chowk area, St. Peters school and near Resham Ghar colony, are deserted by security forces. Even the security check point near Press club is not manned by any security personnel.
Various officials when contacted revealed that jawans were removed from security duty to attend election duty in Poonch assembly by-poll and since then they never returned back. Barring presence of one or two jawans of local police station all the security pickets have been deserted by the security forces for past several months, passers by criss- crossing city flyover said.
It may be mentioned that in the past suspected militants had made an abortive attempt to throw grenades near busy Jewel chock from the fly over and it is only after that security review recommended round the clock surveillance across the entire length of the fly over.
