Joint association of contractors of Jammu province demanded from Govt. bifurcation of PGMSY schemes among other things. The joint association strongly criticized the state Govt for not implementing the commitment made by the former Minister of State (MOS) for works G.A Mir that all the PGMSY schemes shall be bifurcated to the tune of 50,000 lac but unfortunately they said commitment is implemented only in valley and Leh ignoring the interest of contractors of Jammu region, said Yogesh Singh President contractors association PWD in press conference who also represents contractors association, the president 2which was also present. The association further condemned the role of various political leaders who forced the engineers to arrange backdoor entry their workers for the execution of works without floating any tenders. The association also demanded immediate release of funds so that a payment is made to the contractors. The association demanded that no works should be noticed for tenders without the administration approval and availability of funds. Discrimination with Jammu division in the sanction of NABARD schemes should be abolished in action 72 schemes are approved for valley and remaining twenty eight schemes for Jammu division, he said. Association urged upon the Govt to either arrange the material departmentally or allow the contracts to purchase it from market. The association appealed the Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and MOS for works to kindly consider the just and genuine demanded of the contractor’s community for the speedy development of the region, otherwise the association shall be forced to start an agitation in the whole of Jammu province.
