| “Natrang staged Sava Ser Gahoon” | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 23 Eight day Theatre festival to mark the ‘World Theatre Day Celebration’ opened here today at Natrang Studio Theatre with the presentation of a new play ‘Sava Ser Gahoon’ directed by Balwant Thakur. The play was based on the story of the same name written by the legendary writer of Indian literature, Prem Chand. On the opening of the festival, Natrang Director Balwant Thakur informed the audience that this year being the Silver Jubilee year, Natrang has mustered the courage to present eight plays in connection with the World Theatre day celebrations. The other plays being featured in the festival include ‘Gatt’ (Dogri), Suno Eh Kahani (Dogri), Kahani Ek Kuttey Di (Dogri), Bunty, Pinki aur Gangu (Hindustani), Jonk (Hindi), Hawaalat (Hindi) and Lekhak (Hindi). Today’s play Sava Ser Gahoon was based on the story of an age old exploitation of the poor farmers by the money lenders and the landlords. Rohit Verma in his role as Shankar portrayed beautifully the sage of an exploited farmer. Gaurav Jamwal as the money lender impressed every one with hi unique mannerism. Mohit Sharma narrated the story effectively as singer will full grip over his singing capabilities. Others who supported the play with their good performance included Ankush Lakhnotra, Mohd. Yaseen, Rajesh Mehta, Kulbhushan Singh and Inderpal Singh. The lights of the play were designed and executed by Rahul Singh and Pankush Verma played the rhythm. |
