| Bhalla expresses grief over Digiana accident | | | EARLY TIMES REPORTER Jammu | August 27
The state coalition Government has expressed sympathies with the kins of the today's road accident victims who were crushed to death by a minibus near Digiana. In the accident seven people were killed and five others were wounded. Raman Bhalla, MLA immediately rushed to the spot to assess the gravity of the incident. People of the area gathered and start protesting against the accident. They also blocked the ever-busy Digiana road and didn't allow the vehicular movement for some time. Meanwhile, people lifted the protest only after the assurance of compensations to the victim's family and stern action against the culprit. Mr Raman Bhalla had been instrumental in securing cash compensation to the tune of 25,000 in favour of the kins of those killed in the accident. Mr Bhalla talked to the Chief Minister,Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad, requesting him to sanction some cash compensation so that the protesters lifted the road block. However, Mr Bhalla succeeded in cooling the tempers of the people, which led to the resumption of passenger traffic services on the highway.
