| HBET trust distribute scholarship among 173 children | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 23 Scholarship with Rs. 3.65 lakh were distributed among 173 needy children by ‘Harbans Bhalla’ Educational Trust (HBET) at a function held here the other day. As per handout issued by the trust, trust has a mission to change lives of the needy children through literacy support programme has been paying scholarships and conducting various other child welfare schemes for such children for the past 11 years 1220 scholarship amounting to cover 20 lacs have been paid till date of the scholarship recipients over 80% are girls physically challenged children. The additional feature of the function this year was the drawing competition to encourage children to explore their creativity. The winners were given prizes. Speaking on the occasion Prof. Amitabh Matoo was the chief guest, hailed the trust for espousing such a noble cause. He advised the students to make full use of the scholarships and other support schemes. He trust play a big role in alleviating illiteracy from the state. The good work done by the trust is amply evident from the smiles of the students who have come here from far of places. The managing trustee Kunil Bhalla on the occasion said that the trust believes that much of suffering around us is because of the literacy and that education can open the gates of opportunities for the people giving rise to a just and equitable society. He further said that the trust will continue to do what it does with renewed passion to remove ignorance and darkness from the lives of needy children and after their destiny. The ceremony culminated over Preeti Bhoy, in which more than 2000 people including the scholarship recipients their parents teachers and the donors participated. |
