| Govt fulfilled development aspirations of people: Gharuram | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 23 The Azad led government has not only fulfilled the promises made in the Common Minimum Programme but has gone ahead, said Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development Ch. Gharu Ram after launching desilting works of two nallahs in Badyal Brahama and Pulkhoo in RS Pura today The desilting work on 1480 meter long nallah from Convent School to Badyal Brahamna and 335 meter Pulkhoo in R. S. Pura main bazaar has been taken up by UEED at an estimated cost of Rs.8.71 lakhs. Gharu Ram said that the present government was fully aware about the problems of all sections of the society across the state and was seriously working for providing all basic amenities at par with urbanites at their doorsteps. For this purpose, the government has provided sufficient funds in every sector, he said and added that Azad-led government has main objective to develop all the neglected villages in the state by providing road connectivity, hospitals, drinking water, electricity and educational infrastructure. To minimize the rush of students in the existing colleges, the government has also opened a Degree College in R. S. Pura and several other places and upgraded scores of schools in Suchetgarh Constituency alone. He appealed the people to give better education to their children so that they become good citizens and prove their talent in national and international competitions. Several deputations of Suchetgarh met the Minister and projected problems being confronted by them in their respective areas including construction of Baspur-Shamka, Raipur-Sajadhan and Raipur Sangral link roads, maintenance of interior lanes and drains, installation of electric poles in left over villages of Raipur Sajadhan, grant of old age and widow pension. Responding to the demands for construction of link roads, he asked the engineers to prepare the estimates and submit for funding so that the construction work on these roads could be started soon. To connect neglected villages with nearest towns and cities, he informed that recently the centre has sanctioned Rs. 11.80 crore for construction of 480 roads under PMGSY. He said that all the villages of the state would be connected through roads by 2009. Later, the Minister laid foundation stone of two link roads- one at Birla village and another at old Dewangarh- being constructed at a cost of Rs. 6.5 lakhs. |
