| Govt considering a tunnel for Zojila pass : Karra | | | Early Times Reporter Srinagar | Mar 23 Government is actively considering a project for keeping Srinagar-Leh road open round the year. This was stated by Minister for Finance, Tariq Hameed Karra while addressing an annual day function held at State Institute of Education on Sunday. The function was organized by All Kargil Students Union, Srinagar. He said coalition government has already taken up the matter of constructing a tunnel near Zojila Pass and hoped the work on this prestigious project would take off in next six years. He said once the tunnel is constructed the entire area remain connected with rest of the world round the year and help boost economy of the desert region.. He announced that Kargil Girls Hostel would be constructed in Bemina adding that the land for the purpose would be acquired soon. The Minister for Technical Education and Sports, Haji Nissar Ali on this occasion said that all possible facilities are being provided to the Kargil students for getting quality education in the state. He urged the Kargil youth to maintain their traditions at all costs as the traditions are the identity of any community. The students also presented a cultural programme and drama skit in their traditional costumes. Haji Nissar Ali announced Rs. 50,000 for purchasing of various costumes. |
