| 19th State Football Championship | | Football: Zubair makes hat trick in as cops win 5-1 in semis | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 23 Hat trick by Zubair Ahmed today guided Jammu and Kashmir Police to an easy 5-1 victory over District Football Association (DFA) Anantnag in the semi-finals of 19th State Football Championship at Mini-Stadium, Parade, here. With today’s exceptional performance, Zubair has become the third player who has achieved the distinction of scoring a hat trick in the ongoing State Football Championship. Now, in the final, to be played on March 25 at the same venue, Jammu and Kashmir Police will be playing against the professional side of Jammu and Kashmir Bank. Earlier, Vishal Bandral opened the account for J&K Police scoring the first blood in the sixth minute on a pass from right flank by Fayaz Ahmed. It was followed by three consecutive goals from Zubair Ahmed, who scored in the 34th, 39th and 47th minutes of the match. Fifth goal of the match came through Gulzar Ahmed, who headed the ball into the net on a corner throw by Vishal Bhardwaj. However, DFA Anantnag opened their account on a penalty kick awarded to them in the 63rd minute. Reacting on a deliberate handball inside the penalty area by Hilal, centre referee Suresh Gupta awarded a penalty kick which Rouf Ahmed Beigh successfully converted into a goal. Hilal was also shown yellow card by the referee for the mistake. Other officials in today’s match were Suresh Dimple, Farooq Ahmed (assistant referees) and Mohd Shafi (table referee). “We have decided the date for the final on March 25 but the time to start the decider is yet to be finalized by the organizing committee. However, it is certain that the title clash shall take place in the afternoon,” general secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Football Association, Bashir Ahmed Malik told ET. |
