| EDI organizes workshop on sensitization towards women | | | Early Times Reporter

A one day workshop on sensitization of traffic police personnel and bus conductor’s vis-à-vis their behavior towards women was organized by J&K EDI in collaboration with state commission of women here today. A large number of participants consisting of traffic police personnel bus, matador conductors attended the programme. G.M Saroori MoS for forests, social welfare and tourism was chief guest of the programme. Who spoke on the occasion were Rita Jitendra a social activists, Hafiza Muzzafar secretary state commission for women and Sunita Zalpori associate professor IMPA and Bashir Ahmad Dar Deputy Director.
While inaugurating the programme Saroori stressed on the participants and regard to their behavior towards women folk while dealing with them in public places. He emphasized the importance and role of women in shaping the behavior of a man and pointed out towards responsibilities and duties of man towards womenfolk. Director EDI, M.L Parry stressed that the women constitute 50% of the population of the country but unfortunately they are still deprived of their rights. He added that the provisions made under law for the convenience of womenfolk should be strictly implanted in letter and spirit. |
