Militant infrastructure in Pakistan is alive and kicking
11/14/2018 7:46:05 PM
Pakistan has assumed importance because of Islamabad having given safe haven to terrorists. Neither it has responded to the US warning and the US President, Donald Trump, has already imposed a severe cut in military aid but Pakistan is looking towards China which has become its all weather friend. As a neighbour looking for resumption of the process of dialogue so that various issues bedeviling the bilateral relations India's demand for end to export of terror, especially to Jammu and Kashmir, is being ignored by Pakistan with the result the India-Pakistan talks have not resumed. In fact the militants infrastructure is solid in Pakistan because its Army and the ISI have been cultivating militants and have arranged for an arms training to the young boys The militant infrastructure in Pakistan remains intact and around 160 militants are waiting across the Line of Control (LoC) to infiltrate, according to senior Army functionaries.
Lt Gen Paramjit Singh, who took over as the General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Nagrota-based White Knight Corps, commonly known as 16 Corps, also said that cross-border militancy would stop only if Pakistan changes its policy and intentions. Those , involved in the planning of the 2016 surgical strikes on the militant infrastructure in Pakistan administered Kashmir said the Army was not letting up on "our preparedness and the counter-infiltration grid is strong enough to deal with infiltrators" This means that anti-ingress grid by the Indian Army has to be upgraded so that infiltrators find it difficult to cross the border and escalate the level of violence in Kashmir.
The GoC is of the view that a round 140 to 160 militants at different locations in Pakistan are being pushed into the State. "The militant infrastructure is intact, and Pakistan's intentions have not changed. The Pakistan Army and the ISI's complicity in planning infiltration and terror attacks is evident and it continues. In this scenario the US Government is supposed to impose strict sanctions on Pakistan so that Islamabad is compelled to end export of terror to India and particularly to Jammu and Kashmir. What is funny and amazing is the way Pakistan has ignored the US and India's suggestion on banning JuD Chief, Hafiz Saeed, and JeM Chief Masood Azhar. The two continue to roam freely in Pakistan and holding anti-India protest rallies where the two have been spitting venom against India.
