DCPU Kishtwar organises awareness programme on Child Rights Week

Kishtwar, Nov 14: District Child Protection Unit Kishtwar under Integrated Child Protection Scheme today organised the programme on Child Rights Week (14th to 20th November) at Baliniketan High School Kishtwar. On the occasion,childerns were awared including the right to survival, identity, food, nutrition and health, development, education and recreation, name and nationality, family and familiar environment, protection from neglect, maltreatment, misuse, abuse, trafficking, bad and good touch and etc.
On the occasion, Protection Officer-NIC (ICPS Kishtwar), Touseef Iqbal Butt informed that the government of India has set up a constitutional body like the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights 2007 in order to guard, encourage and protect the child in India. "Child should get the good schooling, joy, happiness and learning", he added.
Speaking on the occasion, Protection Officer, and Institutional Care, Deepika Bandari, furthur said that Child Rights opposes the child labor and child abuse so that they can get their full right for surviving and developing and enjoy their childhood.
She said Children should be cared and protected instead of being the victims of violence, trafficking, and abuse. They should get the good schooling, joy, happiness and learning, she added. "Children must get an identity as a person or individual. In order to get happiness and good childhood they (Children) must get good shelter, protection, food, education, drawing, sports, guidance, clothes, recreation, medical, clinic, counseling centre, transport, future plan, access to new technologies and etc", Legal Cum Probationary Officer, Basharat Nazir, said.
Meanwhile, an art competition was also organized for the children at this occasion. Variety of songs, poems and other events like painting related to the child rights are performed by the students to increase and promote the awareness of child rights among people of different communities.
