| AMPGAI organizes awareness camp on aromatic, medicinal plants | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 25 A one day Awareness Programme at Batote in District Ramban was organized by Aromatic and Medicinal Plants Growers Association of India (AMPGAI) on Aromatics and Medicinal sponsored by the National Horticulture Board (NHB) Ministry of Agriculture, Govt. of India D.D. Dogra, Chief Horticulture Officer, Govt. of J&K was chief guest on the occasion. While addressing the gathering D.D. Dogra stressed upon the diversification of the crops from wheat, rice, maize to Aromatic and medicinal plants which provide sustained employment to the farmers. Dogra highlighted the role of the National Horticulture Board (NHB) whose various Bankable schemes specially Development of Commercial Horticulture through production and post harvest management in which the Board provides 20% subsidy to the growers to grow Horticulture and Aromatic plants. President Aromatic and Medicinal Plants Growers Association of J&K Sham Singh organized this programme to aware the various growers of district Ramban and Doda about the schemes of the NHB and the role of the Aromatic and Medicinal plants in the state. Plants like Lemongrass, Citronella, Harar, Amla, Behra, Tulsi, Vetiver, Gulab, Aloevera, Mint etc as all these plants which have great medicinal values and they have been used in perfumeries and cosmetics. Singh appreciated the role of Thakur Randhir Singh President AMPGAI in forming the state units of AMPGAI in more that 25 states of the country. D.D. Dogra, Chief Horticulture Officer appreciated the role of AMPGAI in organizing such programmes to aware the people about the NHB. Other who spoke on the occasion were District Horticulture officer, Horticulture Development officer, Hukum Chand, B.S. Manhas District level subject matter specialist, Om Parkash, Sham Gorkha and other officers of Horticulture Department. |
