| Seminar on "Education for quality improvement" held | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 27 There is a need for capacity building of teachers to improve the education standard in schools and colleges stressed Minister for Higher Education while speaking at a seminar on "Education for quality improvement" at Vishwa Bhartya College of Education Jammu here this morning. Charak said, having regular orientation and capacity building programme for teachers has become indispensable in present age of competitions. He said today the students even from far-off parts of the state are appearing in national level competitions like NDA, MAT, CAT, IAS and other professions. He said that their success at such competitive forums could be ensured only when they possess a strong foundation. The Minister said "no one can deny the fact that teachers play a pivotal role in making the career of students and it is teacher who is being held responsible for their success and failure". He said while the duty of government is to make available facilities besides formulating effective policies, the teachers have to practically shape the future of students in schools and colleges. Charak earlier inaugurated an exhibition of teaching aid of different subjects including literature. Principal of the college Prof. Aneeta Koul presented the welcome address and highlighted the achievements of the college. Chairman Academic Committee of Vishwa Bharti Women Welfare Association. A. N. Sadhu in his keynote address threw light on objectives of Vishwa Bharti institution in the state. President Vishwa Bharti Women Association Mr. D. V. Batra and Mr. J. L. Raina also spoke on the occasion. |
