| Extension of loan waiver scheme to orchardists taken up with Centre: Dilawar | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 27 Saying that coalition government was much concerned about the welfare of farmers and fruit growers; the Minister for Horticulture and Irrigation Mohammad Dilawar Mir said that loan waiver scheme announced by the centre for farmers in the budget proposals would also be extended to the fruit growers and traders of the state. He said Union Minister for Water Recourses Prof. Saifu-ul-Din Soz and Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad have already taken up the issue with the AICC Chief Sonia Gandhi, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Union Ministers for Finance and Agriculture who have consented to extend loan waiver scheme to the orchardists of the state. Addressing a Public gathering at Rohama Rafiabad in Baramulla district today, the Minister said that Rs 16.50 crore regional water supply scheme Rohama has been sanctioned by the government which will provide potable drinking water to the people of the area. He said the Rs.72 crore lift irrigation schemes would help to ensure green revolution in the state and added that under the farmer friendly measures, the government announced exemption of toll tax on export of fruit providing benefit of about Rs.70 crore to the fruit growers. |
