Currently works worth over Rs. 60 crore under various schemes are in progress in Khour block, which would transform socio-economic profile of the block. All sectors are receiving due attention of the Government and efforts are on to complete the ongoing schemes within a stipulated time frame.
This was stated by Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Tara Chand while addressing a gathering of people at village Sarmala in Khour block today.
Highlighting the achievements registered under various sectors in Khour block, Tara Chand said that during the last five years massive development has taken place in different sectors, adding that people are the best judge and they can feel the difference on ground and compare the situation between present and previous regimes.
He said that 99 per cent population of Khour block has been covered under power sector, adding that eight new power stations would be constructed and capacity of existing load would be doubled. He said a scheme for boring tube wells for irrigation purposes in this border belt has been submitted by the State government to Centre, which was a pressing demand of people. He hoped that this scheme would help farmers to increase the productivity of various crops. The scheme would be implemented in three phases, he added.
Tara Chand cautioned the people against disgruntled and vested interests who are out to spread false propaganda against the government. He said such elements have no agenda and virtually they are enemies of common man and creating hurdles in the development process. He said opposition parties have no specific issues and do not want the stability of present government, which has proved successful in all fronts. He said people have acknowledged the hallmark decisions of the present Government under the stewardship of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and did not require any further certification from the individual, the Speaker maintained.
Responding to the demand of relief to drought hit areas of Khour block, Tara Chand said that the issue relates to whole Jammu region and government would take a sympathetic view on this issue at an appropriate time.
