| Kavinder alleges disparity in allocation of funds to JMC | | Demands merger of PHE, PDD, R&B with JMC | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 27 Taking a strong exception over the disparity in fund allocation to Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC), Kavinder Gupta, Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has asked the State Government to be impartial in allocating funds for the JMC so that the Corporation is in a position to take up the development-related works and complete these in time. Speaking in popular program “Hello DD”, Kavinder Gupta said that Mayor-ship in JMC has almost three years now and Corporation is striving hard to change the face of Jammu urban which is developing fast as a metropolitan city with an area of 287 Square meters to its ambiance. “JMC did not get all that which is due to it because of which development works have remained un-finished much to the embarrassment of the elected Corporators, who find themselves in an awkward situation”, he added. He said that JMC was allotted less funds as compared to Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC). He said that “Mayor is responsible post in Corporation and he is committed for the over all development of Jammu city and every attempt would be made to make city one of he best and modern cities of the country”. Kavinder Gupta stressed to merge PHE, PDD and R&B Departments with Jammu Municipal Corporation for the smooth functioning and better execution of development projects in city. Pointing out the problem of shortage staff in JMC and lack of infrastructure, Mayor said that there is shortage of staff and infrastructure in JMC which need to be augmented for overall development. Regarding sanitation of the City, he said that sanitation of Jammu city is the biggest challenge for JMC, councilors and Mayor as well adding that ‘we have taken measures to face this challenge’.
