| ‘Equating Tibet with Kashmir exposes hidden face of NC’: Gupta | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 27 Taking exception of the statement of former Chief Minister Dr Farooq Abdullah equating Kashmir with Tibet, senior BJP leader and former union minister Prof Chaman Lal Gupta on Thursday labeled National Conference as a spoiled child of the Congress party. In a press statement issued here today Prof Gupta said “Dr Abdullah’s attempt to equate situation in Kashmir with that of Tibet exposes core agenda of the National Conference. He said the National Conference leaders had been conspiring to distance this state from the rest of India because of their communal blackmail. Asserting that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India by virtue of the Instrument of Accession signed by the late Maharaja like other 558 Rajas and Nawabs of the country, he said this accession was ratified by even the State Constituent Assembly which was the creation of Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah. He said history and events linked with Tibet are quite different one and alleged that the problems in Kashmir are the result of bungling of the Congress leadership at the Centre. Indian National Congress has been operating in Jammu and Kashmir through the National Conference and spearheading its own agenda, Gupta said in a press statement. Commenting on the slogans of autonomy and self-rule, Prof. Gupta said that these were part of the obnoxious designs based upon communal mindset. “No nationalist would ever tolerate to concede to the National Conference demand for autonomy by putting the clock back to pre-1953 when the late Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah was the Prime Minister and he was deposed and jailed by his own colleagues for his moves on charges of playing the game of certain foreign powers. Prof. Gupta also pointed out that there was no financial integration of this state with the Union of India and without this fiscal arrangement, the Central funds cannot flow and without that cannot survive for a single day to meet even the salaries of its employees. He observed that in the prevailing situation those who are demanding autonomy and put the state back to the position of pre-1953, are making of fool of themselves. The BJP leader also said that the so-called Special Status and Temporary Provision of Article-370 of the India Constitution, has come to be big curse as far as the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are concerned. The entire democratic process including the Panchayats and other basic democracies have been made a joke by taking advantage of separate constitution and this status. |
