The Kashmir Police today claimed to have cracked the Srinagar flyover blast case with the arrest of three saboteurs.
The militant outfit Hizbul Mujahideen had earlier taken the responsibility for the blast in which an innocent civilian was killed and many others were injured by arresting three out of the four militants who planted explosives on the flyover near Jehangir chowk Srinagar.
Addressing a press conference in the summer capital, the Senior Superintendent of Police, Srinagar, Ahfadul Mujtaba said that militant outfit HM had not been able to carry out any attack at Srinagar, as a result of which HM Commanders Tanveer Ahmad Zargar alias Tanna Khan, son of Ghulam Hassan Zargar, a resident of Baghi Islam Baramulla and Muzaffar Dar alias Ali Mohammad, a resident Chichilora Pattan asked four militants to carry out the attack.
On their directions, the blast was carried out over flyover near Jehangir chowk on March 19 by Jehangir Ahmad Khan alias Imran alias King, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan, a resident of Noorbagh Baramulla, Sameer Ahmad Mir, son of Haji Abdul Khaliq, a resident of Noorbagh Baramulla, Sajad Ahmad Lone, son of Ali Mohammad Lone, a resident of Dewan Bagh Baramulla and Imtiyaz Ahmad alias Anna Khan, resident Tawheed Gunj Baramulla, he added.
He said out of these, Jehangir Ahmad Khan, Sameer Ahmad Mir and Sajad Ahmad Lone have been arrested while the hunt for Imtiyaz Ahmed is on.
He revealed that directions were to cause blast at any cost as HM has not been able to carry out any act of subversion in the Srinagar city since long and this was a desperate and deliberate act that led to death of a civilian and injuries to many others.
It is pertinent to mention here that on 19.03.2008, a blast took place over the flyover near Jehangir chowk Srinagar resulting in the death of an innocent civilian namely Abdul Hamid Bhat, 30, son of Ali Mohammed, a resident of Lolipora Chadoora and injuries to many others.
