| Police arrests 2 HM militants in Doda | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 29 Police today claimed to have arrested two militants of Hizbul Mujahideen from mountainous Doda district on Saturday. Police said that the militants were arrested after police, CRPF and Rashtriya Rifles launched a joint search operation at Hadal under the jurisdiction of police station Hadal. However, on the other hand a defence spokesman claimed that both the militants laid down their arms before the army at Doda. Senior Superintendent of Police Doda Manhor Singh told News Agency of Kashmir that a joint operation was launched this morning which led to the arrest of two HM militants, identified as Muhammad Sharief son of Atta Muhammad and Khadim Hussain alias Aqib son of Sher Ali, both residents of Hadal village. While Sharief was said to be active in the area since 2005, his associate Aqib had joined militancy in 2005. "Both of them are `B' Graded militants", the SSP said. The defence spokesman, on the other hand has a different version of the `catch'. He said that both the militants were persuaded to surrender and were brought to Doda by a team of RR. The militants have handed over two 7.62 Self Loading Rifle, Magazine four, two Radio Sets, one Binocular and assorted ammunitions – 69 Nos to the Security Forces, he added. |
