| Police avert clash between employees and PWD contractors | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 29 Timely intervention by the Police averted a possible clash between the protesting members of Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association and PWD contractors, late on Friday. The protesting employees were up in arms against alleged misbehavior by a leader of the PWD Contractors Union with one of their female colleague on the previous day when they were holding a peaceful demonstration near the Nirman Bhawan complex. As the clerical staff employees reached in front of PWD office and started raising slogans there, some contractors also reached the spot and entered into a verbal dual with them refuting allegations of misbehavior. Slogan shouting by the protesting employees and contractors continued for more than one hour triggering a clash like situation that was averted only after intervention by the Police. A strong contingent of police rushed to the spot and pacified the employees and contractors. Earlier, the members of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh All Departments Clerical Staff Association assembled near Press Club and held a protest demonstration there raising slogans in support of their demands. The demonstration was also addressed by leaders of the Association who vowed to continue the struggle till their demands are conceded. |
