| Batwal Community demands economic, employment package | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Mar 29 Urban Batwal Community (UBC) have made a plea to the Government to sanction an economic and employment package on the basis of ethnographic study conducted in 1995, by the central planning through census operation in J&K. In a meeting community members have urged both state and centre govts for enlisting its young and healthy youth in the Armed Forces so that their deplorable and pitiable financial condition is improved and they live in the society with dignity. As per press release they demanded nominations of its +2 medical and non-medical institutions for pursuing MBBS/BDS/BVSC/BE courses, beside scholarships for its wards for continutin studies in their respective institutions in the country. UBC Association President R.L. Kaith said that the Batwal Community ahs been recognized as Scheduled caste in terms of Article 341 of the constitution of India and also it does figure in the scheduled caste list issued by the government of Jammu and Kashmir, but because of lacking political back it has always been made to stand for behind in the queue to get the benefit of reservation granted time to time scheduled castes as a whole. |
