‘Calls for strengthening bonds of love’

Minister for Health and Medical Education Mangat Ram Sharma has called upon the people to nurture traditional characteristics of amity, brotherhood, tolerance and secular temperament, of which the state has been abode of, since ages.
Addressing a massive gathering of devotees on 435 birth anniversary celebration of Guru Naba Dass Ji at Dogra Hall Jammu today, the Minister said that Guru Ji gave a message of love and mutual brotherhood, which applied to all cross sections of society. He asked the people to follow the preaching’s and teachings of Guru Ji who worked for social justice and exploitation of downtrodden.
Sharma said all the religions aim at reforming mankind and inculcating spirit of God fearing, truthfulness, public service and brotherhood.
He said government was committed to the development of all sections of the society, as such, "multilateral and multi-pronged development programmes have been launched across the state".
Saying that Jammu & Kashmir is marching towards peace, progress and prosperity, the Health Minister said "it only became possible by the efforts of Azad who laid edifice for equal development".
Making the fervent appeal to the people for taking full advantage of the golden opportunity of development provided by the UPA Government by granting liberal funds to the state, he asked them, not to give any heed to the hollow sloganeering raised by some political parties who believe in narrow political ideology. He also urged upon them to strengthen the hands of government with wholehearted cooperation for achieving the goal of ‘Khushal J&K’.
Responding to the demands of Mahsha baradri, the Minister assured that all their genuine demands would be fulfilled through proper forums.
On the occasion, the Minister paid obeisance by garlanding the portrait of Guru Naba Dass Ji.
Prominent participants who spoke on the occasion included MLA Gandhi Nagar Raman Bhalla, Ex-MLC Vir Chand Mahsha, R.L. Bharti, N. D. Rajwal, Corporator, Som Raj Taroch, Maheswar Dass Dardi, Girdhari lal Jagdish, President all Jammu and Kashmir Mahsha Sadar Sabha Bodh Raj, besides General Secretary Congress Mahila Wing Kanta Bhan.
A large number of devotees of various areas of Jammu province attended the function and paid obeisance to Guru Ji.
Several persons of the community, including those who contributed for various welfare activities, were honoured by mementos.
