The eight day Natrang Theatre festival 2008 concluded here today with the successful presentation the play ‘Pinki, Bunty Aur Gangu’ adapted for Natrang by Moazzam Ali an artist working with National School of Drama. The highlight of the concluding function was the felicitation of the participants of festival complimenting the artist, Balwant Thakur their tireless efforts to make festival a big hit within a gap of six month. This festival was focused on the young team and amazingly they have surprised everyone through the demonstration of their acting capabilities. During the current financial year Natrang has broken the all time record and have performed 125 shows in one year within the state and outside in Bhubaneswar (Orissa). Play Pinki Bunty Aur Gangu is the story of a brother Bunty age 8 years and a sister Pili of 6 years and their friend Gangu of 8 years. The three children seem temperamentally very different. Bunty appears timid, his sister is full of puckish games and Gangu is like a street smart toughie.
During the play empathy and friendship develop between the children. The relationship is mutually beneficially. Gangu see the sensitive side of the life with his friend Bunty and Bunty sees the tough side with Gangu. The play is about the interaction between develops between the children and how they accept each other. The play offers an ample opportunity to see the world through the eyes of children and to have a deeper insight into the child’s psychology and the transformation of their behavior.
For audience it was altogether new experience watching Natrang adult actors as children. Mohit Sharma as Bunty and Rohit Verma as Gangu performed extremely well and their superb acting forced the audience to believe that they are young children of eight years. Kamaljeet Kaur as Bunty mother and Gaurav Jamwal as Gangu father gave a good account of their performances in a professional manner. Kamakashi Pattyal, mesmerized the audience with her spellbound performance as Pinki. The lights were designed by Gaurav Jamwal and executed by Rahul Singh, Pankush Verma played the rhythm and Ankush Lakhnotra executed the sets. The backstage work was looked after by Mohd. Yasin.
