Saroori inaugurates Khadi Gramudyog exhibition

A five-day District Level Khadi Gramudyog exhibition organized by J&K Khadi & Village Industries Board (KVIB) was inaugurated by Minister of State for Forest, Tourism, CAPD & Social welfare, G. M. Saroori at Town Hall Doda today.
Altogether twenty five stalls were established to display and sell their locally made products like jam, juice, Sozni shawls, Dry fruits, wax candles etc. The products were made by the artisans financed under Rural Employment Generation Programme (REGP). Some participants from other districts also participated in the exhibition and displayed their products.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of the Board for organizing such exhibitions in rural and hilly districts in the state and to make the masses aware of the schemes of KVIB by arranging such programs. He stressed upon the officials of the board to work with zeal and dedication for upliftment of poor and down trodden people of rural areas.
Secretary, KVIB, R. C. Sharma highlighted the aims and objectives for organizing such district level exhibitions and details of the different activities for providing employment to the needy, downtrodden rural artisans and unemployed youth. He further apprised that two state level and five district level exhibitions have been organized during the current fiscal adding that KVIB is establishing craft centers for training to first generation artisans and female artisans in different districts under Cutting & Tailoring, Embroidery, Gabba making and Sozni schemes.
Among others present at the function were DDC Doda, ADC, Chairman Municipal Committee Doda, Manager DIC Doda, Assistant Director Handloom/Handicrafts, Councilors, District Manager JK Bank, Dy. CEO, KVIB, Jammu District officer/OSD Udhampur, District Officers, KVIB Jammu, Doda, Ramban and Kishtwar and prominent citizens, educated youth, artisans and aspirants.
