| Fiscal package withdrawal as death-blow to J&K industries: BJP | | | Early Times Reporter

Terming it as death-blow to industries in Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) today said the withdrawal of fiscal package by the Congress-led UPA government is one more assault on the already suffering industries in the state.
"It is death-blow to industries set up in J&K. Centre's withdrawal of fiscal package granted by previous NDA government in 2002 is one more assault on the already suffering industries in militancy-hit J&K," state BJP chief Ashok Khajuria told reporters here.
The fiscal packages include 10-year tax holiday, excise benefits and other incentives for the state.The BJP chief said that the present Congress-led UPA at the Centre had drastically modified the fiscal package.
He said this is the severest possible blow on the local industry, and the blow is part of a well-planned policy decision.
Fiscal packages, better than the one available in J&K, are in operation in Himachal Pradesh, Uttaranchal and north eastern states. These packages have been left untouched, he said.
The humming industrial activity in Bari Brahmana, Gangyal, Digiana, Samba, Kathua and Udhampur has been an eye sore for anti-Jammu bureaucratic and political elite of Kashmir province, he said, adding they have seen virtual withdrawal of excise package and thus succeeded in stoppage of further industrialisation. |
