| Assistant Superintendent District Jail gets bail. | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 1 Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Mr. Kartar Singh today allowed the bail application filed by Munir Hussain Khan, Assistant Superintendent District Jail Jammu on furnishing bail and personal bond to the tune of Rs.20, 000 each with directions to attend the investigation as and when required by the Investigating Officer. Munir Khan was caught red-handed by the Vigilance Organization on March 27, 2008 while accepting bribe money from the complainant. While allowing the bail application Mr. Kartar Singh, after hearing Adv BL Chatha appearing for the accused/petitioner and Chief Prosecuting officer for the State, called for the report of the Vigilance Organization which reveals that accused who was posted as Assistant Supt, District Jail Jammu demanded and accepted Rs 5000 as bribe from the complainant Beant Singh in order to allow him to meet his son Rajinder Singh, who was lodged in the District Jail Jammu. CPO has filed objections and stated that the accused has committed a heinous offence and as such, he should not be admitted to bail. Special Judge Anticorruption perused the report as well as objections filed by the CPO and the CD file, which reveal that the accused is in custody since March 27, 2008 and the investigation is also complete, nothing more is to be recovered from the accused. As such the accused has made out a prima-facie case in his favour for release on bail. JNF |
