| Theatre, illumination, cultural bonanza – special features of this Jammu festival | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 1 To give final shape to arrangements for ensuing Jammu festival from Ist to 15 April 2008, a meeting under the chairmanship of Minister for Higher Education Mr. Gulchain Singh Charak was held here today. The Jammu festival, an annual affair, showcasing the Dogra Culture and its pluralistic features started a couple of years earlier in a bigway has gainer fame and name for wide ranging and diverse attractions. This year, various events like Nukkad and short plays will be organized at various colleges including GGM Science College, Women College Parade and SRML Higher Secondary School Jammu. The programme also includes illumination of various heritage buildings like Dogra Hall, Chief Minister’s residence, Church and other buildings of historical importance. Light and Sound shows will also be played. The Minister expressed the hope that the festival would prove to be a mega event success and help presenting the Duggar culture in its various shades including type of foods, dresses, dance, drama and music. Information Department also would present light music programmes on evenings during the festival. Among others who participated in the meeting were Secretaries Higher and School Education Departments, Directors of Higher Education, Libraries, School Education and Archives Departments, Joint Directors of Information and Tourism Departments and Principals of GGM Science College, Women College Parade and SRML Higher Secondary School Jammu. |
