| Over 11.48 lakh pilgrims visit Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine | | | Early Times Reporter

A record number of over 11.48 lakh pilgrims from various parts of the country have visited the holy cave shrine of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji during the first three months of this calander year. During the corresponding period of last year 10.12 lakh pilgrims had darshan at the holy cave shrine, thus an increase of over 1.36 lakh pilgrims have been registered.
In the month of March itself, about 5.98 lakh devotees have paid their obeisance at the holy cave shrine. The highest number of yatries was on 22nd March when as many as 40531 pilgrims visited at the holy cave shrine.
Presently 20,000 to 23,000 pilgrims are daily reaching at the base camp Katra town for their onward journey to the holy cave shrine.
Adhkuwari, which is about 6 km from the base camp Katra town, is also an important place on enroute to Bhawan. Besides its religious significance the pilgrims like to take a short break, have some food or drink and take rest here. Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board provides all necessary facilities and amenities to the visiting pilgrims which include free rest room, drinking water, toilets and bathing facilities, blankets, clock room, hospital, announcement etc. Besides well furnished rooms are also available on rent. Booking for the same is done at the enquiry and reservation counter at Katra. A medical unit equipped with all necessary medicines, bank, bhojanalya, police chowki and STD facilities are also available. |
