Patron National Conference and former chief minister Dr Farooq Abdullah today said that while the ministers of coalition alliance were living luxurious life, the unprecedented price rise has made life of common people miserable.
Addressing a public meeting, here today, NC patron said that during the past few years the policies adopted by the central and state government have forced the people to corner. "The unprecedented price rise had made the life of the common man miserable", he said adding, various rules and regulations were so amended or framed that the government has completely lost control over prices.
Accusing the government of being indifferent to the plights of the common people, Dr Abdullah alleged that it is the rapacious band of big traders and profiteers who rule the roost, fleece both the producers and the consumers, and the government stands reduced to a helpless spectator.
It is high time the government understands the gravity of the situation and re-orients the policies so as to seize the reins of prices from the hands of these looters.
Dr Abdullah said that even though the state has witnessed an unprecedented price hike of essential commodities, the government was sleeping over the issue. "There was not a single step from the Government to control the spurt in prices of essential commodities".
The ministers, he said, were more interested in making tours and attending party meetings rather than deliberating upon the issues confronting the common masses.
He suggested that in order to uplift the economic condition, every house hold should be given one job so that the poor people could have both ends meet.
Referring to the local problems of the area, Dr Abdullah expressed dismay over the condition of the roads, power and drinking water supply and said that the area presents dismal picture of the coalition policies.
"The condition of the roads speaks how much development has taken place since the coalition has taken over the reign of power in the state", he added.
MLA Gulabgarh Abdul Gani Malik in his address said that three years of coalition rule has witnessed all promises falling flat, which has created sense of resentment and frustration among the people of the state, especially among those belonging to the remote and far flung areas.
Accusing the ruling alliance of poor governance, Malik said: 'The only thing flourishing in the state is corruption. Unemployment is at its peak but the state government is hardly bothered. They have done nothing for the state, and yet those sitting at the helm of affairs are coming to you with a fresh basket of promises seeking your vote and support.'
Seeking people's support, National Conference MLA said that his party has never made false commitments or raked up emotional issues for petty political gains. "Party has always stood for secularism, equitable distribution of resources cross the regions and across the people of the state and shall continue to work for the welfare and development of the state as such you should strengthen the hands of Dr Abdullah for overall development of the state.
He also demanded a ITI college, Degree College and District Status for Mahore. "The area has been ignored during the coalition tenure and the demand is genuine keeping in view the population of the area", he added.
Dr Abdullah sanctioned Rs 50 lakh out of his MP LAD for ITI College at Mahore so that the unemployed youth could get training and can be equipped with technical skills in different streams.
Haji Khushi Muhammad, brother of Late Haji Buland Khan, joined at Dharmari. Dr Abdullah also addressed road side meting at Agar Jitto, Arnas and Dharmari, Slal and Katra.
Others who spoke include Dr Chaman Lal, MLA Ramban, Brij Mohan Sharma Ex-MLC, Thakur Kashmir Singh, Ex-MLC, Muhammad Aslam Goni, Jagjevan Lal, Ex-MLA.
