| Cricket: Convincing win for Statistics Deptt | | | Early Times Reporter Jammu | Apr 1 In the ongoing Inter-Department Sports Meet of the University of Jammu, Department of Statistics registered a convincing 60-run victory over Department of Environment Sciences to advance into the next round of Cricket at University of Jammu ground, here today. Batting first after winning the toss, Statistics Department set a target of 171 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, which, in reply, Environment Department could not chase and lost all their wickets for 110 runs in 19.3 overs. Ajay and Vikram were top scorers from Statistics Department with 42 runs each while Sunny and Ankit contributed 28 and 19 runs respectively. From Environment Sciences, Ravinder clinched two wickets while Sajjad, Ranjan and Arvind shared a piece each. Batting second, Environment Sciences made a slow start and in the process bowled out in 19.3 overs for 110 runs. Arvind remained the highest scorer with 38 runs while Wasim and Ravinder contributed 14 and 12 runs respectively. Vikas was most successful bowler from Statistics Department with three for 14 in three overs. Imran and Sanjeev shared two wickets each, followed by Rahul Sharma, Sunny and Ankit Bakshi took one wickets. For his three wickets haul, Vikas Sharma was adjudged man of the match. Today’s match was officiated by Vijay Kumar, Pankaj and and Satpal. FIXTURE: Law School to take on Department of History at 8.30 am while Department of Physics Electronics shall meet Department of Sociology at 1.30 pm. |
